Text

Unless otherwise indicated, all text on this site is freely available for educational and non-profit purposes. It is, however, copyright Michael Best and the Internet Shakespeare Editions. All use of the text should be acknowledged; please include the URL of the Internet Shakespeare Editions when quoting material (<https://internetshakespeare.uvic.ca/>).

Graphics

Many graphics on the site are provided by the generosity of libraries and galleries from around the world, which retain copyright in all cases. Any commercial use of these images must be negotiated with the owners, who are acknowledged in the captions (usually with a link to a web site of their choosing). All efforts have been made to trace the owners of the images used on the site; please inform the author if there are any errors or omissions.

Note that all images on the site have been digitally "watermarked" and can be identified as coming from this site, even after significant manipulation in graphics programs.

Sound

Copyright of sound files is also retained by the Internet Shakespeare Editions or the creators of the sound files.

Programming code

The XHTML programming, stylesheets, and navigation for this site were created by Maxwell Terpstra from the earlier XML programming by Michael Joyce.
