The Library of the Internet Shakespeare Editions publishes works that have been rigorously reviewed by scholars in the field. In this section of the site you will find the fully-edited plays and poems, together with a full exploration of the context in which Shakespeare wrote, and other critical and reference materials.
Some further materials that have been proofread, but not fully reviewed, are published in the Annex to the Library. You can also navigate to specific subject areas in the site using the menus at the top of the screen.
The Library is now the home of an exciting new way of reading and visualizing Shakespeare's plays and poems: "a truly illuminated text." View and compare facsimiles of the works as originally printed; explore in-depth annotation of the plays as they are edited by our team of scholars. The first fully-edited plays, Romeo and Juliet and Cymbeline will be published by the end of 2005.
