Description
In a historic first, the production was transmitted in color for the benefit of the relatively few Americans who then owned color television sets. Maurice Evans, who played the title role, and George Schaefer, with the enlightened sponsorship of Kansas City's Joyce Hall, were key figures in bringing televised Shakespeare to North Americans. For other Shakespeare programs in the Hallmark series, see 102, 126, 309, 484, 593, 594, 613, and 649
