Douglas Russell of the State University of Florida Drama Department is, for the fifth season, the Festival's costumier. He holds a master's degree from Stanford and has taught at Carnegie Tech as well as Florida. After a lapse of a year, he again brings his talents as an actor to the Ashland stage as Cinna the Poet and Exeter.

DOUGLAS A. RUSSELL, Festival Costumer, returns for his eighth season in Ashland after a year of teaching Costume at the University of Kansas City. Doug received both his B. A. and M. A. from the Drama Department of Stanford University and has taught Costume Design and Execution at Carnegie Institute of Technology and Florida State University. In 1954 he went to England on a Fulbright Scholarship, making a survey of costuming at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre at .Stratford - upon - Avon over the past fifty years. One result of his researches was the publication in the annual Shakespeare Survey of his article, Hamlet Costumes from Garrick to Gielgudf

DOUGLAS A. RUSSELL, Festival Costumer, is finishing his tenth season in Ashland. During the winter, in addition to designing and planning for the next Festival season, he is Costumer and Assistant Professor in Theatre in the Department of Speech, University of Kansas City. Both his B.A. and M.A, degrees were awarded by the Drama Department at Stanford University. His teaching experience includes courses in Costume Design and Execution taught at Carnegie Tech and Florida State University. In 1954, studying on a Fulbright Scholarship, he made a survey of costuming at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He recently authored the article Shakespeare Costume: Fancy Dress or Civil Dress which appeared in the May issue of the American Educational Theatre Association Journal
