Description
Test shots of the great John Barrymore made for a film that never materialized. Includes the "rogue and peasant slave" soliloquy (2.2), and the ghost scene (1.5). Apparently the brilliant but somewhat unreliable Barrymore had trouble remembering his lines, which resulted in cancellation of the picture. There may also have been the dread of box office catastrophe. A test one year later for a Shakespeare film with Alexander Korda's organization had the same unhappy results
