Description

This spectacular $13 million movie was filmed variously at Atlantic City, N.J., New York City, Rome, and in Greece. In Atlantic City the abandoned Dunes Casino construction site and the Bally Park Place Hotel served as a part of the Alonzo enterprises empire. At the construction site stuntman Jerry Hewitt successfully took a ninety-foot high fall. The production next moved to Manhattan for location shots in New York's theatre district on 45th street between Broadway and 8th Avenue, at the Convent of the Sacred Heart on 91st Street which served as Alonzo's palatial residence, on the Westside Highway at the World Trade Center, at MacArthur Airport on Long Island, and an apartment on Horatio street in Greenwich Village. The company then moved in August first to Athens, Greece, where it shot at the Athenian port of Piraeus as well as the Plastiras Square of downtown Athens. Then six weeks were spent shooting at Gythion, a region of the southeastern Pelopennese known as the Mani. The cast also spent a week on the yacht, "Bluejacket," before traveling to Rome and "Cinecittà" for work on special effects. Altogether a great odyssey! (Producer's p.r. kit)
