Description

The backstage feuding during rehearsals mostly centered around the director's attempts to locate decent rehearsal space, where the cast would not perish from the cold. With a budget of £1,889, studio executives spoke of the production as "expensive." And indeed with a cast of 20 men and 4 women, and the usual concern for sets and costumes, the production certainly represented a serious commitment by the studio (WAC TS/502, 25 Feb. 1952)
