Description
A film adaptation from the 19th-century novel by Nikolay Leskov, Lady Macbeth of Minsk (1865), which was also made into a movie by Enrico Guazzoni in 1917 (see 292). According to the BUFVC catalog, in this version there is "a fusion of Leskov's psychological naturalism and the broader, more poetic sweep of Shakespeare's play."
