Description
Shakespeare's JC in modern dress. A still in the New York Times shows the actors outfitted in the bulky business suits with padded shoulders and wide lapels that were the fashion during what history should rightly stigmatize as one of the tackiest eras in American history. The production was restaged and shown again on Studio One on 1 May 1949 with Richard Hart replacing Philip Bourneuf as Antony. That same evening also saw a transmission of the Philco theatre Macbeth, which must have made it a busy evening for Shakespeare buffs
