Description
This film is one of three recordings of stage productions at the Stratford Memorial Theatre performed by the F.R. Benson acting company. Actual photography and film production seem to have been the work of the Co-Operative Cinematograph Company of Sir William ("Will") G. Barker (1867-1951), an important figure in the early British film industry. Barker is the man who paid Sir Herbert B. Tree the unheard-of sum of £1,000 for a single day's work on Henry VIII. The movie also illustrates again the close ties between British film and theatre in its infancy
