LAIRD WILLIAMSON, Palatine, 111., received his B.S. in Theatre at Northwestern University, his M.F.A. in Drama at the University of Texas, and is Guest Professor and Actor at the University of Texas. On the Festival stag~e he has appeared as Mosca in Volpone, Henry in King Henry VI, Part Two, Edmund in King Lear, and Banquo in Macbeth. At Texas he appeared as Meph-istopolis in Dr. Faustus, The Bandit in Rashomon, and Dionysus in The Bacchae. This is his third season in Ashland.

LAIRD WILLIAMSON, Austin, Texas, rejoins the Festival after an absence of five seasons to direct Love's Labour's Lost and appear in two major roles in Uncle Vanya and Troilus and Cressida. A graduate of Northwestern University, where he studied with Alvina Krause, he earned an M.F.A. degree from the University of Texas, where he was an assistant professor in acting. His many directorial credits include the American premiere of Uptight by Gunter Grass; The Trojan Women for the University of Texas and Here's US! for a U.S.O. tour of the Mediterranean. He has performed in five and directed three productions at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, California. Mr. Williamson also directed the Festival's 1972 Spring production of Room Service. During the 1964, 1965 and 1966 seasons, he appeared on the Festival stage as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Henry in Henry the Sixth, Parts Two and Three; Edmund in King Lear and Mosca in Volpone. Since that time, he has also played Everyman, Buffalo Bill in Indians, Tolen in The Knack, Vershinin in The Three Sisters, and has appeared on both the Mannix and Mission Impossible television series.

LAIRD WILLIAMSON returns for his fifth Festival season, appearing in Othello as lago. For the 1972 Festival season he portrayed Dr. Astrov in Uncle Vanya, Pandarus in Troilus and Cressida. (A more detailed biography is on page 2.)
