Jerry Turner
JERRY TURNER, Loveland, Colo., holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado, and an M.A. in Drama from the same school. He earned his Ph.D. in Drama at the University of Illinois. At Colorado . he played Slender in Merry Wives of Windsor, Ulysses in Troilus and Cressida, and Quince in A Midsummer Nights Dream. His roles at Illinois include Laudisi in Right You Are and the title role in Tartuffe. He has been Staff Director at the University of Arkansas and Washington State College. This fall he will be Director of Theatre and Assistant Professor of Speech and Drama at Humboldt State College, Arcata, California. He is in his first Festival season.

JERRY TURNER, Arcata, California, returns for his sixth Festival season and his fourth year here as a Festival director. In 1959 he directed the Oregon Centennial offering The Maske of the New World and in 1960 he staged the Festival production of Julius Caesar. Last season he directed As You Like It and was seen as Warwick in Henry IV Part Two. Previously Mr. Turner portrayed Roderigo in Othello, Gloucester in King Lear and the Gardener in Richard II all at the Festival. He received his B.A. and M.A. at the University of Colorado and his Ph.D. in Theatre at the University of Illinois. Currently Mr. Turner is Associate Professor of Drama and Director of the Sequoia Theatre at Humboldt State College in Arcata. This past season for the Sequoia Theatre, he directed the double bill, My Hearts in the Highlands and The Chairs, as well as Oedipus the King. Mr. Turner wrote and directed a series of radio programs for the National Association of Education Broadcasters, Poets in Profile, to be broadcast next year.

In 1959 he directed the Oregon Centennial offering The Maske of the New World and in 1960 he staged the Festival production of Julius Caesar, This summer marks his fifth season as a member of the Festival company, He received his B.A. and M.A. at the University of Colorado, and his Ph.D. in Theatre at the University of Illinois. Currently, Mr. Turner is Associate Professor of Drama and Director of the Sequoia Theatre at Humboldt State College in Arcata. He is a member of the executive board of ANTAs Regional Theatre Councils and an associate editor of Players Magazine.

Previously here he directed productions of Julius Caesar, As You Like It, King Henry V, and King Henry VI, Part One. In 1959 he staged the Oregon Centennial production The Maske of the New World. Mr. Turner has been seen on the Festival stage as Roderigo in Othello, Gloucester in King Lear, and the Gardener in Richard II. He was awarded the B.A. and M.A. at the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in Theatre at the University of Illinois. Presently Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Drama at the University of California at Riverside, he directed Juno and the Pay cock ^ and Saroyans Time of Your Life at Riverside, and is Chairman of the Committee for Arts and Lectures. As Associate Professor of Drama at Humboldt State College, Arcata, California, Mr. Turner directed productions of The Crucible and The Deadly Game for the Sequoia Theatre.

He is presently Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Drama at the University of California at Riverside where this past season he directed T. S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral. On the Riverside campus he is Chairman of the Committee for Arts and Lectures and is a member of the All-University of California Intercampus Cultural Exchange Committee.
