James Moll

JAMES MOLL, Austin, Texas, joins the Festival for his first season as Director of Much Ado About Nothing. Mr. Moll received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Michigan and acted with the Ann Arbor Drama Season there. As a Fulbright scholar, he researched Elizabethan staging methods at the Second Globe Playhouse at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-on-Avon under Allardyce Nicoll. Mr. Moll has directed many Greek dramas: The Birds, Hecuba, The Trojan Women, and Orestes; and is preparing The Bacchae for production during the 1965-6 season at the University of Texas. He assisted Margo Jones in the establishment of her first resident company in Dallas. Mr. Moll's previous Elizabethan experience includes such productions as Two Gentlemen of Verona, Twelfth Night, and Ben Jonson's Bartholomew Fair. He has recently directed one-act plays by Albee and lonesco, as well as Pygmalion, The Cherry Orchard, Rashomon, and Summer and Smoke, Mr. Moll is currently Professor of Acting and Directing for the Department of Drama at the University of Texas.
