Philip Hanson
Philip Hanson came here in 1949, after his graduation from Washington State College, and immediately established himself as a Festival favorite. After playing such roles as Richard II and Hotspur, he became a Festival director with Henry IV, Part two, in 1951. In the same season he played Malvolio and Angelo, among other roles. This year he is directing Henry V and playing two very different roles: Dogberry and Cassius. In 1950-1951 he was at the University of Illinois as a teaching fellow in drama and graduate student. This past year he played and directed with the Vining Repertory Company in Ashland.
