Richard Graham

Richard Graham is another Festival actor and director, now in his fifth season. He made his debut on Broadway in The Pursuit* of Happiness, played with Katharine Cornell in New York and on the Road in her Romeo and Juliet and Saint Joan, and has played with numerous stock companies and in several moving pictures. Here he has directed such favorites as Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, and this season. The Tempest. His roles have been varied on the Festival stage, including such triumphs as the title roles in King Lear and both parts of King Henry IV, Othello, Mercutio, Jacques, and this season. Benedick. Now an Ashland resident most of the year, he played and directed with Vining Repertory this past fall and winter.

RICHARD GRAHAM appears as an actor with the Festival this summer for his tenth consecutive season. With Broadway, professional stock and motion picture experience as a background, Mr. Graham has performed many major roles on the Festival stage, among them Philip Faulconbridge in King John, Biron in Lovers Labours Lost, Jaques in As You Like , Enobarbus in Antony and Cleopatra, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, Falstaff in The Merry Wives of Windsor, the King of France in Alls Well That Ends Well, Petruchio, Lear, Coriolanus, and this year for the second time, Othello. Mr. Graham is Director of Make-up for the Festival and is author of a handbook Stage Makeup Applied. This is Mr. Grahams eighth year as Editor of this Souvenir Program.

RICHARD GRAHAM, Ashland, Ore., returns to the Festival after a four-year absence in the East. While there he appeared on Broadway in a featured role in the musical Saratoga, starring Howard Keel and Carol Lawrence. Off-Broadway he was seen in Allen Fletcher's production of the Civil War drama, Borak. He has appeared at the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park in Julius Caesar and Richard II and in Macbeth at the American Shakespeare Festival, Stratford, Connecticut. He appeared on tour with Guy Madison as Admiral Fitch in The Golden Fleecing and with Louis Nye as Sir Francis in Charley's Aunt. He was also seen on Armstrong Circle Theatre.

RICHARD GRAHAM of Ashland is again serving as Director of Make-up and Editor of this Program in this his ninth consecutive year with the Festival. With Broadway, professional stock and motion picture experience behind him, Dick has directed five productions here and has appeared on the Festival stage as Biron in Lovers Labour's Losty Jacques in As You Like It, Enobarbus in Antony, and Cleopatra, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, the King of France in Alls Well that Ends Well and as Petruchio, Othello, Lear and Coriolanus. He recently completed a handbook on theatrical make-up, Stage Make-up Applied.

RICHARD GRAHAM, with his appearance in Troilus and Cressida, has acted in all the plays of the Shakespearean Canon but two, and those two he has directed. Most of this has been accomplished in his eleven years with the Festival, although professional stock and Broadway engagements helped to swell the total. Although some of his roles have been small ones, among his favorites have been Falconbridge in King John, Biron, Jacques, Enobarbus, Benedick, Falstaff, The King of France in Alls Well that Ends Well, Petruchio, Coriolanus, Henry VIII, and Othello and Lear, both of which he has attempted twice. Mr. Graham is Director of Make-up for the Festival and the author of a handbook, Stage Make-up Allied. He is, for the ninth year, Editor of this Souvenir Program.
