Jack A. Byers

JACK A. BYERS returns to the Festival for his second season as Costume Designer. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Drama at San Jose State College. Mr. Byers is an Associate Professor at San Francisco State College and has previously held the position of Lecturer and Costumer in the Department of Dramatic Art at the University of California at Santa Barbara. His extensive experience in costuming for the Elizabethan Theatre includes: Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, The Winters Tale, Volfone and King Henry VI, Part Two for the Festival, A Midsummer Nights Dream at Santa Barbara, Othello and Twelfth Night for Utah University. While working at Michigan State, Mr. Byers costumed Macbeth, Dr. Faustus, and She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith, and Kanjincho, a Japanese Kabuki play. His credits include directing Ring Around the Moon and Thornton Wilder's The Skin Of Our Teeth.

His directorial credits include stagings of Ring Around- the Moon and Thornton Wilder^s The Skin of Our Teeth, During the past year at San Francisco State Colle^ T has designed Threepenny Ofera and Troilus and Cressida.

JACK A. BYERS, San Francisco, California, returns to the Festival for his fourth season as Costume Designer. He received his A.B. and M.A. in Drama from San Jose State College and is currently Associate Professor of Drama at San Francisco State College. In addition to his three years with the Festival, his extensive experience in costuming includes productions of Othello and Him for San Francisco State, A Midsummer Nights Dream at the University of California at Santa Barbara, Othello and Twelfth Night for Utah State University, as well as Macbeth and Dr. Faustus at Michigan State. Directorial credits include stagings of Ring Around the Moon, The Skin of Our Teeth, and numerous childrens plays. He has co-authored a high school text entitled The Theatre Student:\Costuming and is Treasurer of the Northern California District of the American Educational Theatre Association.

JACK A. BYERS joins the Oregon Shakespearean Festival this year for his first season as Costume Designer. He received his undergraduate degree and M.A. in Drama from San Jose State College. Mr. Byers extensive work in costuming for the Elizabethan Stage includes the designs for: Much Ado About Nothing, and a production of A Midsummer Nights Dream, which was directed by Douglas Seale at The University of California at Santa Barbara, Othello and Twelfth Night for Utah State University. While working at Michigan State, Mr. Byers costumed She Stools to Conquer, by Oliver Goldsmith, and a Japanese Kabuki play, Kanjicho. Both the set and costumes for Utah State production of Carmen were designed by him. His credits include the directing of Ring Around the Moon and Thornton Wilders The Skin of Our Teeth, as well as the directing, costuming, and set design for numerous childrens shows. At present, Mr. Byers holds the position of Lecturer and is the Costumer in the Department of Dramatic Art for the University of California at Santa Barbara.
