Edward S. Brubaker
EDWARD S. BRUBAKER, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has been with the Festival continuously since 1955, for the last three years as a Festival Director. In 1961, he directed the Festivals special production of The Alchemist, in addition to his duties as Festival Stage Manager, a position he held from 1956 through 1961. Mr. Brubaker received his A.B. degree from Franklin and Marshall College and his M.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania. At Franklin and Marshall College he is Associate Professor of English and Director of the Green Room Theatre, where he directed Richard III and A Midsummer Nights Dream. In Ashland he has appeared as Bardolph in 1961s Henry IV, Part One (a character he is re-creating this season in Henry V) and has also been seen as Caliban in The Tempest and as Gower in Pericles. He staged Henry IV, Part Two last season here. Before joining the Ashland staff, Mr. Brubakers theatre experience included acting and designing for the Keene Summer Theatre in New Hampshire and directing for the Chester Players in Chestertown, Maryland.

ED BRUBAKER is, for the fourth year, Festival Stage Manager. He has also acted on this stage, appearing here last year as Gower in Pericles. He received his B.A. at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, where he serves wintertimes as Assistant Professor of English. His M.A., in English,, was awarded at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is currently working toward a doctorate. With the Green Room Club at Franklin and Marshall he has played a number of roles, including Anthony Absolute in The Rivals, Dromio of Ephesus in Comedy of Errorsy and Comenius in Coriolanus, He is actively interested in the arts of piano playing and water color painting.

ED BRUBAKER returns for his second Festival season as Assistant Technical Director and General Stage Manager. Ed received his M. A. in English at the University of Pennsylvania, after graduating from Franklin and Marshall College, where he is now Assistant Professor of English. Since 1952 he has been Assistant Director in charge of technical work for the Green Room Theatre there. For five seasons prior to coming to Ashland, Ed was designer for the Keene, New Hampshire, Summer Theatre.

ED BRUBAKER, Lancaster, Pa., is serving his fifth year as Festival Stage Manager, and is also remembered for his portrayal of Gower in the 1957 production of Pericles. He received his A.B. from Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, where he now teaches a course in Shakespeare. At the University of Pennsylvania he earned the M.A. degree in English and is currently a candidate for a doctorate. At Franklin and Marshall he has played a number of roles, including Sir Anthony Absolute in The Rivals and Comenius in Coriolanus, His theatre background also includes five years in stock at Keene, N.H., the writing and producing of radio drama, and the authoring of plays.

ED BRUBAKER is now completing his third year in Ashland, and is the Festival Stage Manager. He received his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College, and his M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, both in the field of English. During the school year he is Assistant Professor of English at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and is also a pianist and a student of painting. His past experience includes the writing and production of dramatic sketches for radio, and five years as a designer in summer stock at Keene, New Hampshire.
