Robert L. Bendetti
ROBERT L. BENEDETTI, Toronto, Canada. After receiving his Ph.D. at Northwestern University, he served as director of theatre at the University of Chicago and as a member of Chicago's Second City troupe. After directing with the Indiana Theatre Company at Indiana University, Dr. Benedetti served two years as company director of the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and as director-in-residence at the University of Wisconsin. From 1967 to 1969, he taught acting and directing at Carnegie Tech before assuming the chairmanship of the Acting Program at the Yale Drama School. He is currently Director of the Program in Theatre at York University in Toronto. Past festival directorial credits include the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, where he has directed Henry VI, Part One, The Taming of the Shrew and King Lear, and the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, where he staged The Comedy of Errors. He has acted and directed for NET Playhouse and produced for CBS Television's Repertory Theatre series. His book, The Actor at Work, is one of the leading acting texts and two new books will be published later this year.
