Rod Alexander

ROD ALEXANDER, Walla Walla, Washington, is Director of the Whitman College Theatre in Walla Walla. This season marks his second directorial assignment and his third summer as a member of the Festival company. He was seen here in the title role in Henry IV, Part I, as the King of France in Alls Well That Ends Well and as Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream. Last season, he appeared as Menenius in Coriolanus and was director for Comedy of Errors. Mr. Alexander received his B.A. degree from Whitman College and his M.A. from Columbia University. Recently he was seen at Whitman and in Seattle in Krapps Last Tape and at Whitman as Gayeff in The Cherry Orchard. His recent directorial credits include Volpone, Little Mary Sunshine, No Exit and several religious dramas. He has also fulfilled the dual assignment of directing the full-length version of A Midsummer Nights Dream for the Whitman Theatre and then directing a shortened childrens version on tour in Washington State. In 1961, he was seen here in the title role in Henry IV, Part I, as the King of France in Alls Well That Ends Well and as Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream. While in New York, he appeared as Dromio of Syracuse in Theatre Unlimited at the Barbizon Plaza Theatre, a production later televised over CBS. This past year, he was seen at Whitman and in Seattle in Krapps Last Ta'pe and at Whitman as Gayeff in The Cherry Orchard.
