About the Company
A Company of Fools is a family-oriented community organization that provides a valuable arts-and-culture experience as Ottawa's original professional summer Shakespeare troupe. The company was founded in 1990 by Margo MacDonald and Heather Jopling, two graduates of the University of Ottawa. Performed predominately in parks around Ottawa, Ontario, the company began performing indoors with Shakespeare's Interactive Circus in 1992. Fools' productions combine physical theatre techniques such as clown, mask, and puppetry with classical text. Their aim is to make Shakespeare accessible and fun to audiences of all ages.
