Scenario: Introduction and Installation

Introduction

This is a brief introduction to using Scenario. Details on each of the features mentioned can be obtained by accessing "help" files from within the program.

Scenario is a program that allows you to "block" a selected scene from one of Shakespeare's great tragedies. Blocking a play is one of the first activities of the Director. He or she decides where characters should move during the scene, where any props should be placed, and what kinds of actions the actors should be taking.

Blocking involves sketching movements and the general direction of the scene. Later the actors will flesh out their roles in collaboration with each other and the Director. Scenario does not "animate" the characters: instead it allows you to comment on the kinds of decisions you would make as the Director of the scene you have chosen in a special "Comment" box available from the "Direct" palette.

Viewing the "Shakespeare Suite" and instructional guides

The "Shakespeare Suite" and instructional guides are contained within the "ShakespeareSuite" folder.

The material in the "Shakespeare Suite" can be viewed by opening either the "Start Here" file located in the opening window of the CD, or the file "A Shakespeare Suite" located within the "ShakespeareSuite" folder.

Instructional guides are located within the "Guides" folder that resides within the "ShakespearSuite" folder. These guides provide the same information as the various sections of suggestions to teachers on the CD-ROM, but are in a format that can readily be printed. They will assist both the instructor and the students in the use Scenario as well as how to use and get the most out of the materials in the "Shakespeare Suite" .

The "Shakespeare Suite" can be copied to a hard drive for network or local access by dragging the "ShakespeareSuite" folder to the location of your choice. The files take up just over 300Mb of disk space.
