Description
An "operatic" production with music especially composed for this production by Julian Slade and James Turner. In the manner of The Beggar's Opera there was an alternation of speech, recitative and song. Examples of the verse set to music include "When women weep" (Luciana), "Music for Aegeon's speech," "Teach me, dear creature" (Ant. . . .S. and Luciana), and "Go get thee from the door" (Dromio). The cast included twenty, and the cost was £1,943. Accompanying all this with "live" music was Eric Robinson and his 12-member orchestra. Joan Plowright took the role of Adriana
