Description
The fifth in a series of six abridged versions of the plays. According to the distributor's flyer, "the plays of Shakespeare are introduced in the abbreviated versions performed by a talented English company. Brief narrative bridges connect the performances of key scenes, forming a compact and dramatic introduction to the play. Each adaptation is structured to preserve the continuity and drama of the play and offers the first-time reader an opportunity to grasp the main theme and threads of action—an awareness that will enrich his understanding and appreciation of the play as he reads it." This series of six films (see also numbers 228, 258, 323, 406, 656) should not be confused with "The Shakespeare Series (IFB)" [see numbers 22, 131, 164, 232, 326, 430, 467, 490, 510, 556, 601, and 619], twelve films offering even briefer excerpts, originally distributed by the International Film Bureau
