Author: William Shakespeare

Editor: James D. Mardock

Coordinating Editor: Michael Best

Textual Editor: Eric Rasmussen

ISBN: 978-1-55058-409-7

Editorial principles and publishing history: This edition takes the 1600 first quarto copy text, modernizing spelling and punctuation according to the guidelines and rationale laid out by Stanley Wells in _Modernizing Shakespeare's Spelling_ (1979). It has been conservatively emended, maintaining the first quarto's readings wherever it has been possible to justify their sense. For individual textual cruxes, see commentary notes; for a fuller description of the editorial rationale, see the textual essay.
