Editorial principles and publishing history: The transcripts presented here follow the Folio as exactly as an electronic version permits; spelling follows the original, with no attempt to correct errors; word spacing is normalized; and modern forms are substituted for letters and ligatures that have no modern equivalent in current browsers (for example, the long 's').

This fullest printed version of the play appeared in the folio of 1623, but appears to have been set from a manuscript copy text composed at least in part in 1599, when the play was first performed. An earlier authoritative printed text, the much shorter and different quarto version of 1600, has been edited separately.
