Plays and Poems: The Texts
This page lists all the versions of Shakespeare's plays and poems published on the site.
Some of the plays appear in several versions, published during Shakespeare’s life, or just
after his death -- and sometimes these versions differ significantly.
- All are available in transcriptions of the way they were first published, with
original spelling and punctuation.
- Some plays and poems were first published in quartos -- the equivalent of
modern paperback editions.
- Almost all of the plays were published in the First Folio of 1623, the first collection
of Shakespeare's works. Almost half the plays appear for the first time in this
important volume.
- Our team of editors is steadily adding modern versions of the works.
