The Birthplace

An early drawing of Shakespeare's Birthplace. From Shakespeare's England.

Although we cannot know for certain, the house that John Shakespeare owned on Henley Street is assumed to have been the family home in Stratford. The house, which still stands today, has become a popular tourist attraction, heralded as the place where Mary Shakespeare gave birth to William and his siblings and where Shakespeare spent his childhood.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has an extensive website.
